Something Dreamy for the Road :: Summer 2010 Play List

This year already proved itself as a fantastic year for releases and shows. Something Dreamy for the Road is a list of music released in 2010 and it’s music that I am absolutely in love with. This is an on going list of awesome, so look for a part two in the fall or maybe sooner. Who knows? I may need to do a part 3. You can listen to most of the songs below, but I suggest you get out there and buy the records because those are just tastes of how awesome those albums actually are.

Camera Talk – Local Natives

Dream City  [Live in Austin] РFree Energy
Their whole album, Stuck On Nothing, is a soundtrack to summer. This song is my favorite song on the album and it’s a live track because these guys sound incredible live.

Take Care – Beach House

Truth Sets In – Avi Buffalo

More or Less – The Soft Pack

Our Deal – Best Coast

Holiday – Vampire Weekend

Crown on the Ground – Sleigh Bells

The Suburbs – Arcade Fire

Odessa – Caribou

Stay Close – Delorean

Tugboat – Venice Is Sinking
Seriously, Venice Is Sinking is one of the greatest bands to come out of Athens in quite sometime. They are definitely Wholly Roller approved. Sand & Lines will be available on June 15 and proceeds go to rebuilding the Georgia Theatre that burned in 2009.

Life Coach – Fang Island

Let Go – jj

Dance Yrslf Clean – LCD Soundsystem

It Gets Your Body Moving – Suckers
The one I chose is from the Daytrotter Session they did, its probably the best I’ve heard (besides live, of course). Wild Smile will be available on June 8 and I can tell you this, it will be awesome.

Take It Easy – Surfer Blood

Crown on the Ground – Sleigh Bells

Friday in Paris – Strange Boys

Thieves – She & Him

Cold War (Nice Clean Fight) – The Morning Benders

Deadbeat Summer – Neon Indian

BONUS song because I love you guys and this is a mix of two things I love: Suckers and Local Natives.

Sleigh Bells – TREATS :: Get it digitally right now.

Are you ready for something so awesome that it is going to wear out your dancing shoes and rock your face off? If so, you need to head on over to iTunes and get TREATS (Mom+Pop/N.E.E.T.), the debut record from Sleigh Bells. TREATS is available right now for you to download, but don’t worry, it will be released on a physical CD on June 1 and the LP on June 22.

If for some reason you don’t want to own this now, you can listen to TREATS in its entirety on NPR.

Alexis Krauss is the voice, Derek Miller is the beat. They are all Sleigh Bells and they are awesome. Every track on TREATS is a dance track. Every track has a beat that will blow your mind and lyrics to match. My personal favorite is Crown on the Ground.
Listen:

Sleigh Bells reached buzz status at last years CMJ festival in NYC and really hit the top this year at Coachella and SXSW. You’ve probably heard about them on every blog and indie radio station out there. Now they are playing shows all across the country, you need to see them if and when they stop by your city.
